The Coup de 3
The Coup de 3 is, I think, easier
to master than the coup de 4 as the knob is usually held closer in the
"cage" and the thought process is easier.

The start position is the same as the coup de 4 but the hand
is closed round the knob and contact is made with the base of the thumb.
The motion is a push with the forearm. |

The second coup is achieved by pulling back the forearm -
contact is made with the index and second fingers as in the coup de 4. |

The third coup is performed by lifting the forearm - contact
is made on the 3rd and 4th fingers as in the coup de 4. |
