This
design was inspired by customers requiring a small, easily
portable hurdy-gurdy which would suit playing in situations where the
more ornate instruments would look too fancy. Particularly suited to mediaeval re-enactments, the instrument has 2 drones, 2 chanterelles and trompette. It is not over loud but has warmth and exceptional stability . It is fitted with " Peghed" geared tuners and screwed tangents making it particularly easy to tune and play all the keys perfectly in tune. A Youtube demonstration can be seen <<here >> |
This is the most compact Hurdy Gurdy that I make and has the smallest wheel. This tends to make a reasonable tone easier to achieve and together with its restrained volume results in an ideal first instrument or for accompanying the quieter early instruments.
